Food Environmental Health Department (FEHD) is the final department of issuing food licences in Hong Kong. FEHD has divided licences into two types, the main different things as follow:
Food Licences :
-
including: General Restaurant, Light Refreshment Restaurant; they are called as "GR" and "LRR"respectively.
- providing on-site seating, and can apply for liquor licence
Other licences (non-Food Licence):
-
such as Takeaway service of Cooked food, Food factory, Siu Mei & Lo Mei, Sushi & Sashimi shop, Fresh provision shop, Factory canteen, etc.
- Other licence (except Factory canteen) cannot provide on-site seating, and cannot apply for liquor licence
With effect from 18 April 2006, the following three new licensing policies have come into operation by FEHD-
- Free of UBW at food premises of restaurant, factory canteen, cold store, food factory, fresh provision shop and bakery licences;
- In compliance with Government lease conditions in respect of all food business licences including restaurant, factory canteen, cold store, food factory, bakery, frozen confection factory, fresh provision shop, siu mei and lo mei shop and milk factory licences; and
- In compliance with statutory plan restrictions in respect of all food business licences including restaurant, factory canteen, cold store, food factory, bakery, frozen confection factory, fresh provision shop, siu mei and lo mei shop and milk factory licences.
